Old Town
Category:Geography
A surface district known for narrow alleys, old buildings, and graffiti walls. High Chaos concentration with active underground movements.
One of Nova City’s surface-layer districts, located in the southwestern part of the city, characterized by narrow alleys, old buildings, graffiti walls and night markets. It is one of the earliest built areas of Nova City, with densely packed buildings and narrow roads, in stark contrast to the skyscrapers of the Central Business District. The Old Town has relatively high Chaos concentration, where Espers and underground activities converge, making it a gray zone where various factions intersect.
Geography and Environment
The Old Town retains the architectural style of Nova City’s early founding period, with three- to four-story old buildings closely arranged, forming a maze-like network of narrow alleys. The walls are covered with colorful graffiti—some are ordinary street art, while others are “living graffiti” created by Bansy, which mutate under the influence of Chaos energy and can even materialize into physical objects.
The Old Town’s drainage system is severely aged, and the underground pipes and abandoned basements form numerous informal entrances to the Underground Layer, which is one of the reasons for the high Chaos concentration in this area.
Key Landmarks
Old Town Night Market
An open-air night market located in the center of the Old Town, opening at dusk and closing at dawn, gathering numerous food stalls, grocery shops and street performers. The Captain and Taffy regularly visit here, and it is also the preferred location for informal gatherings of task force members. The night market看似 noisy and ordinary, but it is actually an important node for intelligence circulation, where informants from various factions often exchange information.
Graffiti Wall Block
An abandoned building complex in the southeastern part of the Old Town, with walls completely covered by graffiti. Bansy’s “Street Guardian Angel” activities mainly unfold in this area, and her living graffiti is not only artwork but also weapons against Chaos—materialized graffiti creatures can assist in combat, and graffiti barriers can block Chaos Manifestations.
Abandoned Warehouse District
A cluster of abandoned industrial warehouses on the edge of the Old Town, formerly a gathering area for small factories. Today, some warehouses are occupied by underground factions as temporary bases or material transit points. Mechanika’s private workshop is hidden somewhere in this area.
Chaos Situation
The Old Town has the highest Chaos concentration among surface areas, with small rifts appearing frequently and low-order Chaos Manifestations almost “daily visible.” Local residents have grown accustomed to this, even developing an informal set of common-sense避险 knowledge. Bansy has long fought Chaos alone here, protecting community residents, and is called the “Street Guardian Angel” by locals.
