The Underground Layer is the area with the highest Chaos concentration and the densest Chaos Manifestations among Nova City’s three-layer structure, and it is also the concentration of hidden bases for all factions. The unknown devices placed by the Black Metal Crew in medium-sized rifts were discovered here, and the truth of the Underground Layer is far more complex than surface residents imagine.
Geography and Structure
Nova City’s Underground Layer is not a single space, but a complex network interwoven by multiple systems:
Subway Tunnels
Nova City has an developed subway network, and some lines accidentally broke through underground caves and Chaos rifts during construction. Abandoned subway stations and tunnel sections have become breeding grounds for Chaos Manifestations, and have also been converted into bases by underground factions.
Drainage System
The vast underground drainage pipe network crisscrosses, with main pipes wide enough for vehicles to pass. The drainage system is the “underground highway” connecting various surface areas, and also the main channel for Chaos Manifestations to渗透 from deep underground to the surface.
Abandoned Factories and Warehouses
A large number of abandoned underground factories and warehouses are distributed underground in the Old Town and port areas. These spaces were products of the city’s industrialization period, and after being abandoned they became natural bases for underground factions. Mechanika’s private workshop is hidden somewhere among them.
Underground Caves
Natural limestone cave systems exist deep underground in Nova City, and some caves contain奇异 crystals and plants affected by Chaos energy. The deep caves are the areas with the most concentrated Chaos rifts, with extremely high Chaos concentrations where ordinary people cannot survive for long.
Submarine Rifts
Multiple rift channels exist on the seabed offshore of the Binhai Coastal District, through which Chaos energy permeates, causing frequent Chaos incidents in the offshore area. Exploring submarine rifts is extremely difficult, and currently only a few investigation records exist.
Chaos Situation
The Underground Layer has the highest Chaos concentration in Nova City, with concentrations increasing the deeper one goes. Low-order Chaos Manifestations are everywhere in shallow tunnels and drainage systems, mid-order Chaos Manifestations活动 in abandoned factories and caves, while deep caves and submarine rifts may harbor as-yet unrecorded high-order Chaos Manifestations.
The number of rifts in the Underground Layer far exceeds the surface, and most are in an uncontrolled state. The Black Metal Crew uses these rifts for Chaos Manifestation cultivation and energy harvesting, and the unknown devices they placed may be related to awakening high-order Chaos.
