ANANTA is most often pitched as an “anime GTA”, but for a walkthrough site what actually decides your early-game pace is not the fighting — it’s the traversal. The game spans two cities, Nova City and Chongxiao (whose core area is Lingyun City). NetEase confirmed a worldwide launch on January 15, 2027 at Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live, free-to-play, across PC (official client + Steam), PS5, mobile and cloud, with no character gacha. This article does one job: break down every traversal method we can trace to a source — where each “way of moving” is used, how it unlocks, and how to plan your first hour.

ANANTA's six movement methods at a glance: swinging, wingsuit, hover car, bike, kung-fu parkour and dual-mode exploration

1. Build the frame: two cities, two personalities

Nova City is a vertical cyber-neon metropolis — dense towers and sky-bridges, made for aerial movement. Chongxiao’s Lingyun City draws on Jiangnan and martial-arts imagery, with lanes, rooftops and temple steps that suit grounded, short-range bursts. That explains a key point: no single traversal method works everywhere, so you should pick by city. For the baseline, see our Nova City open-world breakdown and Chongxiao full guide.

2. Each traversal method, one by one

Web-swinging — the fastest point-to-point move between Nova City’s high-rises. It borrows the Spider-Man-style swing: grab a building ledge and chain leaps until you land near the target roof. Great for story dashes and escaping ground pursuit; it fails in low blocks and indoors where there are no grab points.

Wingsuit / glide — leap from height and deploy the suit to convert a drop into horizontal distance, ideal for tall ledges, cross-building gaps and long retreats. Combined with swinging it forms a “swing up high, then glide far” chain.

Hover cars / bikes — the Gamescom 2026 trailer publicly showed hover cars, and ground bikes are available too. Vehicles suit long straight avenues and “move while you observe” exploration; some characters even have vehicle-specific interactions (e.g. Rich ramming through traffic in a gameplay demo). Their weakness is narrow lanes, stairs and dense areas needing constant turning.

Kung-fu traversal — Chongxiao’s Lingyun City movement, using sect martial arts to hop across rooftops, walls and railings over short gaps, and it feels best on grounded faction characters such as Yinglong, guardian of the village. It fills the dead angles where swinging and gliding can’t reach or open up.

Dual-mode exploration (Story / Exploration) — the official design gives two ways into the world: Story Mode advances questlines and threads the movement tutorials together, while Exploration Mode leans into free routing and world interaction. New players should run the movement chain smoothly in Story Mode first, then switch to Exploration Mode to clear collectibles.

3. Our own take: match movement to “who uses it”

Tallying the faction field across our 15 catalogued characters in src/content/characters/: 8 belong to the A.C.D. (Chaos Countermeasures Bureau) camp — 6 official members plus 2 technical-support, such as Seymour, the mobile-RV hacker who locks targets with signal tracking. The rest span Black Metal Crew, Longqi Village and independents. This means most story-usable characters naturally orbit an “A.C.D. run-and-fight” rhythm, so the swing + vehicle combo has the highest priority, while the Longqi line leans harder on kung-fu traversal. See the Factions catalog for the full picture.

ANANTA two-city movement comparison: Nova City favors aerial swinging and gliding, Chongxiao favors kung-fu parkour and ground vehicles

4. Your first hour: a route that actually works

  1. Enter Story Mode and, in Nova City, chain 2–3 rooftops with swinging to build a “high ground first” instinct;
  2. When a long straight road appears, summon a vehicle instead of running;
  3. To break pursuit fast, climb to a ledge and drop into a wingsuit glide to shake ground units;
  4. On arriving in Lingyun City, switch to kung-fu traversal and hop rooftop→wall→steps into the temple square;
  5. Once the movement chain feels smooth, flip to Exploration Mode and clear collection points with the Items catalog and the Glossary cheatsheet.

FAQ

Can you swing in ANANTA, and what’s the fastest way to move?

Yes. Between Nova City’s high-rises, web-swinging is fastest, and a wingsuit glide right after “swings you up high then far”; on long avenues, prefer a hover car or bike.

Does ANANTA have hover cars?

Yes. The Gamescom 2026 trailer publicly showed hover cars, and ground bikes work too — great for long straights. Vehicles are clumsy in lanes and staircases, so pair them with swinging and parkour.

What is the kung-fu playstyle in ANANTA?

Kung-fu is concentrated in Lingyun City, Chongxiao: sect martial arts for short rooftop/wall/railing hops that cover the low-density gaps swinging and gliding can’t reach — a natural fit for Longqi Village characters.

What’s the difference between Story Mode and Exploration Mode?

Story Mode advances questlines and threads movement tutorials together; Exploration Mode leans into free routing and world interaction. New players should smooth out movement in Story Mode first, then clear collectibles in Exploration Mode.

Is traversal the same in both cities?

No. Nova City is a vertical neon tower-city built for aerial swinging and gliding; Chongxiao’s Lingyun City leans on kung-fu parkour and ground vehicles, so you should pick your movement by city.

Which traversal should I unlock first?

Get swinging fluent in Nova City to build the “high ground first” instinct, then unlock a vehicle for long straights, and save wingsuit and kung-fu for their terrain (high-ledge escapes / Chongxiao dense blocks).

Before you pre-register

Pre-registration is open on all platforms; the official press release cites “over 17 million pre-registrations across 110 countries and regions”. The final feel, unlock pacing and implemented numbers of the movement system remain subject to the open beta and official announcements, and we will update this article as traceable info arrives.

Data note: movement methods here come from the Gamescom 2026 official press release and trailer, English previews such as Polygon, and our catalogued src/content/characters/ and src/content/cities/ data. The faction count (8 of 15 characters in the A.C.D. camp) is a catalog tally, not an official ranking.
