Building your first squad can feel overwhelming. This guide gives you ready-to-use early-game compositions and explains the role each slot should fill, so you can clear launch content without wasted effort.
The Core Idea
A balanced starter squad needs three roles:
- Field controller — Captain, for traversal and crowd control.
- Primary DPS — Rich or Bansy, for damage output.
- Support / flex — Thermo or Taffy, for sustain and control.
Recommended Builds
Balanced Starter
- Captain + Rich + Thermo
- Safe, self-sufficient, good for story and exploration.
Burst Push
- Captain + Rich + Bansy
- Maximum burst; clear low-tier entities fastest.
Control Lock
- Captain + Taffy + Alan
- High survivability; ideal if you prefer a steadier pace.
Resource Allocation
- Pour early Ascension Coins into your primary DPS first.
- Keep one support at a usable level rather than spreading thin.
- Don’t over-invest in a single T2 character early; wait for synergy.
Positioning Tips
Captain should lead traversal; keep your DPS behind cover and let support buff from range. Against flyers, switch to a vertical-mobility character to deny them space.
Pick the build that matches your style, then refine it as you pull more Channelers. For full character entries, see the wiki.
