Nova City under Chaos

New players often confuse Chaos with Chaos Entities — but they are not the same thing. Understanding the distinction is the first step to reading Ananta’s combat and story correctly.

Chaos — the Energy

Chaos is a mysterious, source-unknown supernatural energy that leaks into Nova City through Rifts. It is the root of every supernatural phenomenon in the world:

  • It can grant humans superhuman abilities (awakening).
  • It can twist living things and objects into dangerous Chaos Entities.
  • It is graded by intensity, from low to extreme.

Think of Chaos as a double-edged sword: it gives power, but it can also consume everything.

Chaos Entities — the Creatures

Chaos Entities are the deformed creatures formed when living things are eroded by Chaos energy. They are the game’s primary enemy type, classified by threat level:

GradeThreatTraits
LowNormalSmall, weak, solo-able
MidHighSpecial abilities, need a squad
RadiantVery HighCity-block level destruction

Six Types You’ll Meet

  1. Swarm-type — appear in packs, easy alone, dangerous together.
  2. Brute-type — high HP, slow, punish careless positioning.
  3. Flyer-type — mobile, requires anti-air or vertical reach.
  4. Caster-type — ranged attacks, prioritize silencing.
  5. Mirror-type — mimics your abilities, demands adaptation.
  6. Boss-type — story-gated, requires full team coordination.

How to Fight Them

Don’t brute-force everything. Identify the type first: use Tentacle grabs for bruisers, vertical mobility for flyers, and crowd control for swarms. Matching your approach to the entity type is far more efficient than raw level.
