Profile

The leader of Nova City’s Anomaly Countermeasure Division (ACD) Special Ops Squad, a free agent with Chaos tentacle abilities. Appears lazy and laid-back, but is fiercely protective of their team. After awakening their powers in a Chaos rift, they were handpicked by ACD leadership to take over a disbanding squad — starting with just Rich as the only member, gradually recruiting Taffy, Mechanika, and others to form the core “Kick Squad.”

Background

Early Life

Before taking over the ACD, they were a “free agent” in Nova City, making a living by solving small-scale Chaos incidents. During one incident, they accidentally triggered a Chaos rift and awakened their tentacle abilities.

Joining the ACD

Spotted by ACD leadership, they were entrusted with a squad on the verge of disbandment. Initially, Rich was the only member who stayed. They gradually recruited Taffy, Mechanika, and others, building the “Kick Squad” core roster.

Turning Point

Triggering the Chaos rift awakened their tentacle abilities, transforming them from a free agent into the ACD Special Ops Squad Leader.

Personality

TraitDetails
StrengthsExtremely protective of teammates — first to act when they’re in danger; powerful enough to stand alone
QuirksAppears lazy, dislikes following rules; too casual, often teased by teammates
HabitsDislikes wearing the full uniform — jacket unbuttoned, sleeves rolled up
Interpersonal StyleProtects teammates like family, ruthless to enemies, selectively follows rules

Additional Details:

  • Appears laid-back but is fiercely protective — will step in the moment a teammate is in danger, even if it means breaking ACD rules
  • Dislikes wearing the full ACD uniform; keeps the jacket unbuttoned and sleeves rolled up, radiating a casual, uninhibited vibe
  • Loves eating skewers at the Old District night market; drags Taffy along to check in after every mission — a hidden “foodie”

Relationships

  • Player Character: The character controlled by the player
  • Taffy: Teammates; often eat skewers together, mutual trust
  • Mechanika: Teammates; Mechanika once repaired and enhanced their tentacles
  • Dila: Frenemy; clashed before, then teamed up against a massive Chaos entity

Signature Weapon

Chaos Tentacles (Core “weapon,” not a traditional weapon)

Form: Normally hidden on the back. When activated, they appear as black, semi-transparent Chaos-energy tendrils that can freely extend, split, and have spikes at the tips. They can grip building surfaces and grab objects.

Abilities:

  1. Grab — Can grab distant objects, enemies, and even use street signs, trash cans, and cars as improvised weapons
  2. Swing — Supports high-altitude traversal, climbing skyscrapers — “Flying beats traffic”
  3. Attack — Capable of heavy strikes, sweeps, and piercing attacks. Damage increases when charged with Chaos energy, able to shatter Chaos barriers

Traits: As their strength grows, the tentacles unlock more forms (multi-segment splitting, Chaos energy bursts). No durability limit — powered by Chaos energy; they retract when energy is depleted.

Improvised Weapons (Anything in the City is Reusable)

Common Types: Street signs, trash cans, baseball bats, fire hydrants, even car wreckage. The Captain can grab any city object via tentacles, adapting to different combat scenarios.

Traits: Improvised weapons have limited durability and break after use. Ideal for close-range assaults and area clearing. Combined with tentacles, enables a “long-range grab + close-range heavy strike” combo.

Abilities

StatDetails
Special AbilityChaos Tentacles — Everything is a weapon
Combat StyleHigh mobility + burst damage, tentacle grabs + object strikes
Signature MechanicTentacle grabs of city objects as improvised weapons
Iconic Feature”Flying beats traffic” — swinging through the city via tentacles

Combat Details

  • Core Combo: Tentacle grab object → High-altitude swing assault → Object heavy strike → Tentacle piercing follow-up, balancing mobility and burst power
  • Weakness: Tentacles being attacked causes pain to the Captain; when Chaos energy is depleted, they can’t be used — requires rest or absorbing Chaos crystals to recover

Story Appearances

  • Main Story: Present throughout the entire main storyline
  • Side Stories: Stories from their free agent days
  • Key Moments:
    • Upon arriving at the ACD, found the office in chaos and members slacking off — declared “I’m cleaning up this Division from today,” using tentacles to effortlessly dispatch a low-level Chaos entity making trouble, intimidating everyone
    • Stuck in traffic, deployed tentacles to swing through the sky and arrive at the mission on time, creating the iconic “I don’t do traffic — I fly” moment
    • To protect Taffy, took Dila’s meteor attack head-on, tentacles temporarily damaged — first time showing vulnerability in front of teammates

Quotes

I don’t do traffic. I fly.

This Division… starting today, I’m cleaning it up.
